When I went to Greece 9 years ago I only knew about baklava and gyros. Other than those two items I had no idea what Greek food/cuisine was like beyond that. A dear gentleman/captain told me something about the Greek food that now looking back he was absolutely right. He said, ‘Sometimes the most simple foods are the most delicious foods. Come, join me and let’s relive my Greece food adventures in both Athens and Paros. Kalà óreksi (Bon Appetit) folks!

Let’s start with the breakfast, which is the most important meal of the day. A typical Greece breakfast consisted of bowl of Greek yogurt, sometimes honey, and a variety of fruit and nuts. These breakfast bowls were so beautiful and so delicious! This was a perfect breakfast between the beautiful fresh fruit, with honey to add a little sweetness and then good protein from the Greek yogurt. It was great because each bowl was super filling and like I mentioned super simple but yet delicious. 🙂

Like I mentioned earlier a gentleman told me something that I cherish and. My instructor, classmates, and I went on a boat ride and had a super delicious lunch. The captain had prepared us lunch that consisted of grilled lamb and a wonderful tomato, cucumber, and green bell pepper salad with a lemon vinaigrette. How the captain seasoned the lamb was amazing. He took the Mediterranean sea to steam the lamb and the salt from the sea to seasoned the lamb. Paired with this simple and delicious salad. He let me take pictures during his cooking process. He told me something important, ‘Sometimes the most simple foods are the most delicious foods.’ From that point on I carry that words of wisdom in the cooking I do to this day. Below are a few pictures I took from that wonderful lunch memory from that day.

Dinner I had a wide range of seafood to risotto, and well you’ll see in the pictures :D. I will admit it was hard to not eat everything and anything.
